Dawn Pine Yoga

Private yoga, 50+

The day goes better
when it starts with breath.

Sixty private minutes before the day makes its demands: breath work, unhurried movement, and the stiffness that fades when you stop fighting it. In your living room, in Laurelhurst Park at first light, or in the small studio on Division - just you and an instructor whose only job is your body today.

  • ◆First session $50, no membership to join
  • ◆Home, park, or studio - your choice weekly
  • ◆Knees, hips, and shoulders worked with, not against
  • ◆Morning people and becoming-morning people welcome

Why private, why morning

A class asks you to keep up. We do not.

Group classes are built for the middle of the bell curve, and nobody is the middle of the bell curve - especially not at sixty, with the specific knee, the desk shoulder, and the surgery from '09. Private practice starts where your body actually is this morning.

And morning, because morning practice changes the day it opens. Not at 5am unless you want that - but before the phone, before the news, before the day claims you. We have watched this single change reorder people's weeks.

Summer mornings

La pratique, en vrai

Laurelhurst, 6:10am

The quietest hour in the city.

In summer the 6am sessions move to Laurelhurst: grass, first light, and the heron that has opinions about tree pose. In winter we stay in - living rooms are underrated studios, and the coffee is closer.

The studio

Four teachers, all RYT-500

01

Marisol Trent Owner & instructor

RYT-500, fifteen years teaching, and a former ICU nurse who understands exactly what your cardiologist meant. Teaches the first session herself so the plan starts right.

02

Ruth Abebe Instructor

RYT-500 with additional certification in yoga for healthy aging. The patient teacher; her clients arrive stiff and leave taller, weekly.

03

Tom Calloway Instructor

RYT-500, men's classes and reluctant beginners. Former college athlete with two rebuilt knees and zero tolerance for "no pain no gain" nonsense.

04

Beatrix Lange Client care

Schedules, reminders that are actually helpful, and the first phone call where you tell us what your doctor said.

Getting started

From first call to steady practice

01

The phone call

Beatrix, fifteen minutes: your goals, your history, your doctor's cautions if any. She will tell you honestly whether we are the right fit.

02

First session

Marisol, one hour: gentle assessment and your first real session. You leave with a written home plan of three things, not thirty.

03

Your weekly hour

Same teacher, same time, your choice of location. The plan adjusts weekly to what your body did since last week.

04

The long view

Every eight sessions we review: balance, sleep, the stairs, whatever we are actually here for. Progress you can feel in your own terms.

Client stories

What our clients say

"I am 71, was a skeptic, and now defend my Tuesday 6:30 with the fervor of a man defending his fishing spot. The knees are not fixed - nothing fixes the knees - but they no longer run the schedule."

Walt H.
71, retired high school principal

"Marisol read my cardiologist's instructions more carefully than I had. Six months later my balance test at the physical went from worrying my doctor to boring her."

Dolores K.
68

"My mother and I do a shared session weekly - she is 74, I am 49. Watching her tree pose get steadier while mine wobbles is the single best hour of my month."

Anne & Patrice M.
daughter and mother

Frequently asked questions

It is the most common qualification we see. We measure nothing against the floor. Toes are a direction, not a destination.
A mat if you have one; we bring the rest, including two blocks and a strap, to every home session.
Tell Beatrix on the first call and bring the restrictions to the first session - written, if your doctor gave you paperwork. We build the practice inside them, and we will ask your doctor directly if anything is unclear.
Our programs are private-pay fitness, not medical treatment, and we do not bill insurance. Many clients use HSA/FSA funds - check with your plan administrator.
Yes - shared privates are our most common arrangement. One plan, two bodies, adjusted individually within the session.
Because some clients love it, it is the quietest hour at the park, and summer in Portland rewards it. The other nineteen hours of the day are also available.
